Roshanara Begum (September 3, 1617 – September 11, 1671) was an Imperial Princess of the Mughal Empire as the second daughter of the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan and his Empress consort Mumtaz Mahal. Born on September 3, 1617, Roshanara was a brilliant woman, a talented poet, the mastermind behind her brother, Aurangazeb’s accession to the Mughal throne, and by the time of her death in 1671, one of the most notorious women in the Mughal Empire.
